Slack is a collaboration hub that connects your organization with all the pieces & the people, so you can get things done.
Imagine you were just hired on as a designer for that company, and for your first project. For this exercise, I chose to redesign Slack. It's a popular app used by 4 million users. While I was looking at reviews of the Slack app, I found something interesting.
I conducted user interviews to find the users' pain points and better understand how they used Slack. This is a study of the possibility of a redesigned Slack.

1. Understanding Slack
It is a freemium product exciting as it was initially used as an internal communication tool for an online game, Glitch. Then it expanded into a collaboration tool for businesses and interest groups over the world.
Today it has 8+ million daily users, and 3+ million paid users.
60,000+ paying companies use Slack
60+ companies from the Fortune 100 have paid Slack workspaces
400,000+ organizations use Slack
It is one of the favorite developers because they can choose from over 1,500 app plugins to integrate into Slack or customize app functions by writing their code.

Second major problem:
The current design of Slack messages/threads on the mobile app doesn’t permit using the “Start a thread” feature. In the contemporary design, they must first tap the message/comment and then tap the “start the thread” button on the next screen. Because it requires two steps instead of one.

2. User Research, Process & Work
Before I began my redesign project, I conducted interviews with a few users to understand better. The questions focus on their engagement & experience with Slack mobile.
User Personas:
The aim would be to create the best experience and improve the functionalities to provide each persona's best possible experience. This data will be useful to improve the user experience for each one of them.
